SEK Bridge Program is designed as a 14-day WBL experiential curriculum divided in three blocks:

BLOCK I

Exploration

Block I focuses on building self-awareness and career-awareness. Activities do not take place in the workplaces but provide the foundation for participants to make the best of opportunities.

As part of this block participants will explore:

  • Interest Inventories
  • Business Simulations
  • Mock Interviews

4-Day Business Simulation

Self-awareness & Communication

Participants will discover there is more in them than what they see and prepare to take the well-known entrepreneurial “Leap of Faith”.

BLOCK II

Exposure

Block II focuses on “…bringing participants to the workplace for short periods of time with the goal of gaining introductory information about the functional units of a business and associated occupations within each of them…” In partnership with Company A, B and C we will conduct:

  • Job Shadowing
  • Mentorship, and
  • Externship Activities

Collaboration & Creativity

The six basic business unit in a company will be grouped in three areas for participant to explore: (1) Sales and Marketing; (2) Operations and Production; (3) Finance and Administration.

BLOCK III

Experience

Block III engages participants as meaningful collaborators in Company A, B and C to develop specific skills. This takes place in conjunction with related academic workshops in a particular industry or occupation

5-Day Apprenticeship

Participants will be assigned to a business unit to complete a specific task as team member in Company A, B or C.

Expeditionary Leader

Eduardo Balarezo is a former financier, business executive and social entrepreneur who currently leads MIND SHIFT IMPACT programs. Eduardo focuses his expertise in systems thinking, alternative futures and adventure learning to design Expeditionary Leadership Programs in helping individuals achieve meaningful personal and professional transitions in today’s Impact Economy. Eduardo is also a recognized social entrepreneur and founder of the retail brand Lonesome George & Co.. He channeled his passion for business, adventure learning and social impact to teach youth about courage and compassion founding and developing Academy of Agents of Change. As a recognized social innovator, Eduardo was nominated a remarkable individual and included in the 100 “Visionary Leaders” list in 2015 by Real Leaders publication and served as Outward Bound International Board Member for two terms. Eduardo is an expeditionary leader; conservation advocate; 2016 TEDx Speaker and is a member of the Singularity U – Miami Chapter Executive Board. Eduardo holds a BA from Brown University; a Global Executive Business Program from IESE-Wharton-CEIBS and he is working to complete his MS in Foresight and Strategic Thinking from UHCL. Eduardo currently lives in South Florida with his wife and 4 children where works as House Dean at The MYX and teaches social entrepreneurship for Watson Institute at Lynn University.
